PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 28 -- An eight-year-old boy died after a gate collapsed on him at the residence of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha state president Rohit Mishra in Meerabhavan Senani Nagar area of Pratapgarh on Sunday evening, police said. The deceased, Advik, a Class 3 student, was the younger son of Rajnish Sharma who is a tenant at Mishra's residence. Rajnish, hailing from Lucknow, works as an area manager with a soft drink company there, they added. According to reports, the incident occurred around 5 pm when the gate suddenly came off a pillar and fell on him. Those present at the spot rushed the injured boy to the medical college. However, he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards, said circle officer (city) Ashutosh Mishra. A murder convict lodged in Naini Central Jail died during treatment at SRN Hospital on Saturday after his health deteriorated. The deceased, Bahadur Ali alias Sher Bahadur, a resident of Teliarganj, had been suffering from asthma and was unwell for some time. He was under the supervision of the prison hospital and medical staff. On Saturday, his condition suddenly worsened and he was admitted to the prison hospital. As his condition became critical, doctors referred him to SRN Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. According to sources, the post-mortem examination indicated that a lung infection was the cause of death. Bahadur Ali had been accused of murder in a case registered in 1992.
