PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 7 -- A 17-year-old Class 12 student was allegedly stabbed to death over a Rs.15,000 monetary dispute and his body was dumped in the Hawelia drain in Jhunsi, police said on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as Shantanu Dubey, was the son of teerth purohit Deepak Dubey and a resident of Purani Jhunsi Kohna. He was the elder of two brothers and a Class 12 student at a local school. According to his family, Shantanu left home on his scooter around 9.15pm on Monday after receiving a phone call from his friend Ujjwal Sengupta. When he did not return late into the night and his mobile phone was found switched off, his family began searching for him. On Tuesday morning, the family was informed that Shantanu's body had been found in the Hawelia drain. Police and forensic teams reached the spot. DCP (city) Sagar Jain and ACP (Jhunsi) Arun Parashar inspected the scene. The body was sent for postmortem examination. According to police, Shantanu had lent Rs.15,000 to Ujjwal and a dispute arose when he demanded the money back. Police said the monetary dispute led to the murder. On the complaint of the family, Jhunsi police registered an FIR against Ujjwal Sengupta, Yash Gupta, Divyansh Nishad, Chhotu Pasi, Chhotu Yadav alias Anda and unidentified persons. Police have arrested four named accused, including the main accused, and recovered the knife allegedly used in the crime. One named accused is still absconding and efforts are underway to arrest him.
