Civic body launches houselisting in all 110 wards in Lucknow
LUCKNOW, May 23 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Friday launched the first phase of the Census of India-2027 exercise across the city, commencing the houselisting and house numbering process in all eight zones and 110 wards under its jurisdiction.
Officials said the first phase of the exercise will continue until June 30. Enumerators will conduct field visits daily between 8 am and 6 pm and will carry municipal corporation-issued photo identity cards during the survey.
Officials said the initial phase aims to collect important household and building-related information that will form the basis of the nationwide Census-2027 exercise.
Additional municipal commissioner Abhinav Ranjan Srivastava said the civic body deployed 6,270 enumerators and 1,049 supervisors for the large-scale operation. He added that the administration trained all personnel according to guidelines prescribed by the directorate of census operations, UP, before assigning them field responsibilities.
Senior civic officials joined the field exercise on the first day to underline the campaign's importance and increase public awareness. Chief tax assessment officers Ashok Singh and Vinay Kumar Rai personally visited the residences of dignitaries, senior administrative officers and elected representatives to conduct the house listing exercise and encourage public participation.
Officials said enumerators began visiting assigned localities and collecting information related to building usage, structure type and the number of people residing in households.
Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar appealed to residents to support the census process by providing accurate information to survey personnel. He said reliable data would help authorities effectively plan and implement development projects and welfare schemes....
