LUCKNOW, July 30 -- Policymakers, industry leaders and technology experts on Wednesday outlined a strategy to transform Uttar Pradesh into a leading Artificial Intelligence hub at the CII's 'UP AI Tech Summit 2026', with discussions focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in agriculture, governance and citizen services. Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the summit focused on leveraging AI to accelerate economic growth, improve public services and strengthen the state's innovation ecosystem. IT and electronics minister, UP, Sunil Kumar Sharma said the state government was prepared for policy innovation and highlighted the startup policy's renewed focus on agri-tech. He said, "AI must be harnessed to boost crop productivity and farmers' incomes while remaining vigilant against its potential misuse." Principal secretary, IT and electronics, Alok Kumar, said Uttar Pradesh's population of 240 million, once seen as a challenge, had become a valuable resource for AI companies to train their models. He also announced plans to create a database of talented professionals from UP working across the world and connect them with the state's development initiatives. Referring to InMobi as a homegrown success story, he said such companies could inspire the state's startup ecosystem. Subi Chaturvedi, global senior vice president at InMobi and a member of the Chief Minister's Digital Economy Working Group, said UP should nurture the next generation of technology leaders. She identified compute, data, talent, applications and trust as the five pillars for building an AI-first future.
