CBI arrests CGST supt, computer operator in Meerut bribery case
LUCKNOW, May 8 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested a superintendent posted in the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) department in Meerut and a computer operator attached to his office for allegedly demanding and accepting a Rs.6,000 bribe to process a GST revocation matter linked to a local business establishment, officials said.

The CBI said it discreetly verified the allegations and found prima facie evidence disclosing cognisable offences under Section 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Following the verification, the agency registered a case against Yash Sharma, described in the FIR as personal assistant/computer operator to the CGST superintendent, and entrusted the investigation to inspector Rishabh Raj.
Officials said the CBI later laid a trap and caught Yash Sharma red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe on behalf of superintendent Sanjay Meena. Both accused were subsequently arrested....
