Case lodged after newborn deaths due to alleged negligence
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 21 -- Soraon police have registered a case against a hospital operator, a doctor and four to five unidentified persons in connection with the alleged deaths of two newborns due to medical negligence. An investigation is underway.
According to police, hospital operator and the doctor named in the FIR are absconding.
The case was registered on a complaint by Sita Devi, mother of patient Aarti Devi. In her complaint, Sita alleged that the doctor threatened her, saying he would administer a lethal injection to the patient if she opposed him.
Meanwhile, acting on the instructions of ACP Jhunsi Arun Kumar Parashar, a team constituted by Chief Medical Officer Dr A.K. Tiwari inspected several hospitals on Thursday.
Later, the team reached the Saraon hospital after receiving information about a road blockade on the Soraon-Phulpur route. Local residents had protested over the alleged deaths of newborns and demanded action against the hospital management.
CMO Dr A.K. Tiwari said preliminary findings indicated possible medical negligence. In view of the allegations, the hospital was sealed and its registration suspended until the inquiry is completed.
Gorakhpur police on Thursday registered a murder case against two youths following the disappearance of 16-year-old Prince Kumar, a Class 10 student who went missing near the Rapti river on Tuesday. The case was filed based on a complaint by the boy's mother, who alleges her son was murdered and his body thrown into the river. The two friends who took Prince to the riverbank on a scooter claimed he accidentally drowned while bathing in deep water. SDRF personnel launched a search operation, but the body remains untraced. Suspicions heightened after Prince's clothes, slippers and mobile phone were found abandoned at the site....
