GORAKHPUR, Feb. 28 -- : At least three youths were killed and three others seriously injured after a speeding car skidded off the road, hit an electric pole and rammed into a house wall near BM City Road under Mehdawal police station limits in Sant Kabir Nagar district early Friday morning. Police said the accident occurred around 4 am when six friends were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony. The vehicle reportedly went out of control due to overspeeding, leading to the crash. Station house officer of Mehdawal Surendar Kumar Singh identified the deceased as Sandesh Pandey (23), Durgesh (25) and Sharvan (21). All were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead due to severe head injuries. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. The injured-Shivam, Inderjeet and another youth-were referred to Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Gorakhpur for treatment. Police said the car first struck an electricity pole before crashing into a residential wall, leaving the vehicle badly mangled. Further investigation is underway.
