Cabinet clears regularisation of panchayat-approved building maps
Lucknow, June 4 -- The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday approved several key proposals, including the regularisation of building maps sanctioned by district panchayats, a compensation policy for inmates who die unnatural deaths in prisons, amendments to the Semiconductor Policy-2024, and funding for new cities in Agra, Bareilly and Prayagraj.
Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, finance minister Suresh Khanna said building maps approved by district panchayats within development authority areas up to March 31, 2026, will be regularised.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet also approved formulation of Standard Operating Procedure for granting map approvals in development and regulated areas where master plans have not yet been prepared.
The Cabinet approved the Uttar Pradesh Inmate Death and Compensation Policy. Under policy, dependents of inmates who die due to unnatural causes such as prison clashes or lack of treatment will receive compensation of Rs.5 lakh. In cases of suicide, the compensation amount will be Rs.3 lakh.
The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Uttar Pradesh Semiconductor Policy-2024. Khanna said the revised provisions require the state government to release its share of subsidy first, following which the Centre will provide its share.
The Cabinet approved the release of funds for the planned development of new cities in Agra, Bareilly and Prayagraj under the Mukhyamantri Shehri Vistarikaran/Naye Shehar Protsahan Yojana. A total seed capital of Rs.355.06 crore has been approved for projects, with Rs.225 crore sanctioned as the first instalment.
The state has allocated Rs.3,500 crore for the scheme in 2026-27. Officials said the move will boost planned urban development and infrastructure creation across the state....
