Burglary at residence housing ACP puts cops on toes
Lucknow, Aug. 4 -- A burglary at an engineer's house in Rajajipuram, where an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) is put up, has put the city police on their toes. The Talkatora police on Monday registered an FIR and launched a hunt for four suspects captured on CCTV.
The FIR was lodged under Sections 305(a) (house-breaking), 331(3) (theft after house-breaking) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, based on a complaint by the house owner Sudhanshu Gautam.
The incident occurred under the Talkatora police station limits at the residence of Gautam, an engineer. ACP (Bazar Khala) Ranjit Kumar, who shifted into the first-floor of the house with his family around 20 days ago, discovered the burglary after returning from duty on Sunday.
According to police, investigators have collected CCTV footage from the house and nearby areas and are analysing the movement of the four suspects to establish their escape route and ascertain whether they are part of an organised burglary gang.
The burglary took place in the wee hours of August 1 when Gautam, who currently lives in Noida, had left the ground floor of his Rajajipuram house locked.
Gautam told police he noticed criminal activity while monitoring the property's CCTV cameras on his mobile phone. The footage allegedly shows two men forcing open the main door and entering the house while two accomplices remained outside keeping watch. The accused allegedly fled with gold chains, rings, silver ornaments and other valuables....
