Burglars target showrooms in Gudamba, Madiaon
LUCKNOW, April 14 -- In two separate burglary incidents, thieves targeted showrooms in the Gudamba and Madiaon areas late Sunday night, fleeing with cash and goods worth over Rs.22 lakh, police said on Monday.
In the Gudamba area, burglars broke into a sanitary store by entering through the roof. The shop owner, Aditya, who runs Awadh Sanitary Store on Kalyanpur Ring Road, said he had closed the shop around 8:30 pm on Sunday. The theft came to light on Monday morning when staff found the store ransacked.
According to the complaint, Rs.8.54 lakh in cash kept in the office was missing, while a bundle of Rs.50,000 was found lying on the floor. Expensive sanitary items worth approximately Rs.13-14 lakh were also stolen.
In another incident in Madiyaon, unidentified thieves broke into Anmol Supermart, owned by Dilip Rajput, by cutting open the shutter during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. The theft came to light when the owner opened the shop the next morning.
Lakhs of rupees were allegedly stolen after thieves broke into a petrol pump office and made away with a cash locker containing fuel sales proceeds in Barabanki district, police said on Monday.
The theft took place between 12.30 am and 1 am on April 13 at Om Sai Ram Filling Station in the Ramnagar area, according to the FIR lodged by the acting manager of the outlet, said police.
In his complaint to Ramnagar police station, Bhanu Pratap Singh, the manager in-charge of the petrol pump, said the burglars broke the latch of the store room door adjoining the office before entering the premises.
Police said the thieves then allegedly removed the cash locker kept inside the store room and fled with it. The locker is believed to have contained cash worth several lakhs collected from fuel sales, though the exact amount is still being reconciled.
Officials said they are examining CCTV footage from the filling station and nearby establishments to identify the suspects and trace the stolen cash.
The Lucknow police arrested a wanted accused involved in a job fraud case from Prayagraj on Sunday. He is accused of cheating a man by falsely promising to secure him a government job in the Allahabad High Court.
The accused, identified as Ravendra Singh alias Nitin Singh (37), was arrested on Sunday from the Gadopur area under Phaphamau police station in Prayagraj after due permission was obtained to operate outside the district. He was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody on Monday, read a police statement.
According to police, the case dates back to September 3, 2025, when the complainant, Gyanendra Kumar, a resident of Preeti Vihar Colony in Bijnor, Lucknow, filed an FIR alleging that the accused cheated him by promising a job in the Allahabad High Court....
