Meerut, Sept. 9 -- A viral video showing a man dressed as a groom firing 17 rounds into the air during a wedding ceremony in Bulandshahr's Khurja area prompted police to register a case and launch a search operation for the suspect. The footage, believed to have been recorded in 2022 during the accused's own wedding, depicts the man repeatedly firing shots in the presence of guests. After the video recently circulated on social media, Khurja Nagar police initiated legal proceedings. SP (Rural) Antriksh Jain confirmed that the individual seen in the video has been identified as Shadab, a resident of Mohalla Tarinan in Khurja Nagar. "A case has been registered against Shadab at the Khurja Nagar police station under the Arms Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," Jain said. "Multiple police teams have been deployed to trace and arrest him." The video has also sparked public speculation regarding the firearm involved, with various social media claims suggesting it was a Turkish-made 'Zigana' pistol. Police stated that the make and legality of the weapon remain unverified, noting that these details will be established as the investigation progresses. Local reports indicate that the accused has a history of possessing and displaying firearms, claims which officials are currently verifying. Police are continuing to analyse the viral footage and gather evidence regarding the circumstances of the incident. "We have assigned teams to secure his arrest," SP Jain added.
