LUCKNOW, March 23 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) passed its 2026-27 budget within around 45 minutes of convening the House on Sunday, triggering sharp protests from opposition corporators who alleged that the civic body rushed the process without discussion on the budget. Mayor Sushma Kharkwal convened the session at 12:13 pm and declared the budget passed at 12:35 pm. The House was adjourned at 1:03 pm amid continued sloganeering, leaving key concerns over transparency and due process in the civic body's functioning. The move immediately drew objections from opposition members, who alleged that the House bypassed deliberations and failed to follow due procedure.
