PRAYAGRAJ, March 26 -- A delegation of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Wednesday visited the site of the collapsed Adarsh Cold Storage facility in the Chandapur area of Phaphamau to assess the situation following the tragedy. At least four workers were killed and 14 others injured when a portion of the cold storage structure caved in on March 23. The delegation, led by BSP divisional coordinator Raju Gautam, termed the incident "extremely unfortunate" and blamed it on "gross administrative negligence." After inspecting the site, Gautam expressed apprehension that more people could still be trapped under the debris. He demanded stringent action against those responsible and urged the Uttar Pradesh government to provide Rs.50 lakh each as compensation to the families of the deceased, also seeking Rs.20 lakh in financial assistance for each of the injured. Earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives and announced an ex gratia of Rs.2 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs.50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
