BSIP workshop focuses on climate resilience
LUCKNOW, June 6 -- More than 150 scientists, policymakers, conservationists, academicians, researchers and students from eight states participated in a two-day national workshop on "Nature Archives and Climate Futures: Pathways to Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development" at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP) here on June 3-4.
Organised around World Environment Day under the theme "Inspired by Nature: For Climate, For Our Future", the hybrid workshop served as a platform for discussions on climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, water security and sustainable development through insights from nature archives and Earth-system science. BSIP director Prof. Mahesh G. Thakkar said environmental responsibility must become a way of life, adding that nature archives offer vital lessons from Earth's climatic past to help build resilient societies.
