VARANASI, Aug. 28 -- Two people, accused of beating a brick kiln worker to death in Cholapur area on August 21, have been arrested from village Hariyadih under Cholapur Police Station area here on Wednesday, police said. Arrested accused have been identified as owner of the brick kiln Ajay Singh, and Vishal Singh, both residents of Varanasi. A lathi (stick) used to commit the crime was also recovered from their possession. It is alleged, the accused killed the worker over suspicion of theft. Additional deputy commissioner of police Lipi Nagayach said that on August 21, information was received that an unidentified body was found from a locality under Cholapur police station area. A team of the Cholapur police station conducted the Panchayatnama and sent the body for postmortem. The officer said that the probe was started during which police received a video in which a persin was seen being beaten by two people. The video helped identify the deceased as Ramjanam Vanvasi, 45, a resident of Dharayan village in Chandauli. He, however, was presently living in Badkibari village in Cholapur area of Varanasi and worked as a labourer at a brick kiln in the area. His wife Sita Vanvasi filed a complaint, alleging that her husband went to a brick kiln where he worked and was beaten to death. Based on the complaint, a case under Section-103 (1) (murder) BNS, was registered at Cholapur police station. Investigation revealed that brick kiln owner Ajay Singh, 35, and Vishal Singh, 35, had beaten Ram Janam mercilessly, suspecting that he had stolen a tractor.
