LUCKNOW, Aug. 6 -- The body of the wife of a principal assistant posted at a government women's hospital in Sitapur, was found hanging inside her house in Lucknow's Jankipuram area on Tuesday evening, police said, adding that the exact circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation. According to police, the incident took place at the couple's residence in Jankipuram. The woman's husband returned home from duty around 4pm and found the main gate open, but one room locked from inside. After repeatedly knocking on the door and receiving no response, he sought help from neighbours. The door was forced open, and the 47-year-old woman was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a saree. The family immediately informed the police. Police and a forensic team reached the spot, examined the scene, and collected evidence. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. Officials said no suicide note was recovered from the house. Preliminary investigation has not found any indication of an outsider's involvement at the time of the incident. The couple has two sons, both medical professionals. One is serving as a Major in the Indian Army, while the other is associated with a medical college in Ghaziabad. Both have been informed about the incident. Police said the reason behind the suspected suicide is yet to be established.
