BAHRAICH, Oct. 3 -- A 46-year-old married woman from Gautam Buddh Nagar and a 27-year-old man from Shravasti, said to be her partner, were found hanging in a hotel room in the Kotwali Nagar area of Bahraich late Thursday. The pair had been staying at the hotel since September 22, posing as a married couple, police said. The woman was a resident of Dankaur in Gautam Buddh Nagar, while the man, an electrician, was from Hasanapur in the Malhipur area of Shravasti. The incident came to light at approximately 8 pm when hotel staff noticed no activity from room number 201 throughout the day. After receiving no response to their knocks, staff alerted the Kotwali Nagar police. Officers broke open the door to find the two bodies hanging. A forensic team examined the room, but no suicide note was recovered. The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination. City circle officer (CO) Narayan Dutt Misra stated that the circumstances surrounding the deaths are under investigation. "Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide, but the exact circumstances will become clear after the post-mortem report," he said. Speaking to HT, the station house officer (SHO) of Nagar Kotwali confirmed that no suicide note was found. He stated that it appears the duo took the extreme step due to an emotional impulse and with mutual consent. The room was locked from the inside, necessitating forced entry by the police. He added that the husband of the deceased has been notified to collect the body. The husband of the deceased woman, who arrived in Bahraich upon hearing the news, informed the police that the young man had previously lived as a tenant opposite their home in Noida, where he became acquainted with the woman....
