Bodies of man and woman found in locked room in Mathura
AGRA, May 3 -- The bodies of a man and a woman, both in their twenties, were discovered in a room locked from the inside in the Durga Puram locality of Vrindavan town in Mathura district.
Police suspect a case of murder-suicide, believing the man killed the woman before taking his own life.
The incident follows a police complaint lodged by the woman just days earlier. The deceased woman had filed an FIR at Jait police station in Mathura on April 28 against the man, accusing him of threatening and harassing her to marry him.
PP Singh, the circle officer (Sadar) at Mathura, informed media on Saturday that police received a tip-off late Friday night about a man who had allegedly committed suicide in a room locked from inside.
"Police reached the spot but found the room locked. A forensic team was called," the circle officer stated.
"On breaking open the door, the body of the man was found hanging from the ceiling, and the body of the woman, with marks on her neck, was found lying on the bed."
"Prima facie, it appears that the man killed the woman and then committed suicide by hanging," Singh said. "The exact reasons and details will depend on the post-mortem report and further investigation."...
