LUCKNOW, May 19 -- The Bhartendu Natya Akademi (BNA) summer workshop is buzzing with participants from diverse backgrounds and different parts of the country, all sharing one thing in common: a passion for acting. From a 48-year-old garment businessman from Hazratganj to a former army aspirant from Bikaner who left his selection in the armed forces to learn how to act, and a 17-year-old journalism student discovering her calling - they are a testament that acting is not restricted to age, qualification, or the place one resides at. Father-daughter duo, Gyanesh Kumar Gupta (48), a garment businessman in Hazratganj, has joined the workshop with his daughter Sonia. "I have been part of some movies where I enacted side characters. My passion for acting led me to movies. My daughter just completed her intermediate. She was always good at academics but looking at me she got inspired to pursue my passion as hers. I originally came here to enroll her when she asked me to join too," said Gupta. KK Shahi, 35, who owns a construction business, said that between managing a construction business, running an NGO, and working as the state Health coordinator for the tobacco cell, life kept him busy. "Ironically, I was recently advising a close friend that he should join theatre to improve his skills. It was then it hit me-why shouldn't I take my own advice?," said Shahi. Ashok Bishnoi, 23, from Bikaner, who left his selection in the Armed Forces, said that his heart was always in cinema. "I eventually moved to Delhi, spent two years grinding with local theatre groups, and earned a diploma in theatre," said Bishnoi. Roshni Shukla, 17, who has applied for a seat in mass communication through CUET, said that as a child, she used to mimic people and act out scenes around the house, but never had a proper direction. "Everything changed for me when I watched the actress Revathi in Ab Na Banegi Deohri at BNA last year-that was the exact moment I understood what I wanted to do. I am here to see if this is just a passing interest or a career with real, tangible potential," said Shukla....
