PRAYAGRAJ, May 12 -- Police busted an organised gang involved in high-tech cheating and impersonation during the Tradesman Mate examination conducted at the 508 Army Base Workshop in Cheoki. Acting swiftly on a tip-off, Naini police arrested 13 people and recovered a large number of electronic devices and forged documents used in the racket. According to police officials, the incident came to light during the examination held on May 10, when invigilation staff noticed suspicious conduct by a candidate. Upon verification, it was found that the candidate-Deepak, a resident of Haryana-was appearing for the exam as a proxy for another person. He was immediately apprehended at the centre. Aadhaar cards, photographs, educational certificates and other documents were recovered from Deepak's possession. Subsequent interrogation revealed the existence of a well-organised gang that facilitated cheating using Bluetooth-enabled devices. Based on this information, the police conducted raids and arrested 12 more accused. During the operation, police seized nine Bluetooth transmitters, ten earbuds, seven SIM cards, power banks, several Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, driving licences, mobile phones, and a Maruti Ertiga car used by the gang. Police said the accused provided candidates with sophisticated electronic equipment that enabled them to receive answers during the examination. A case has been registered under relevant sections of law on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Group Captain Kaushik Poddar, General Manager (Personnel & Administration) at the Army Base Workshop. Those arrested include Deepak, Hardeep, Sandeep, Sanjeev and Lokesh from Jind (Haryana), Jaideep and Tushar from Rohtak, Akhil and Gursab from Kaithal, Deepak and Rahul from Bhiwani, Rahul Kumar from Dausa (Rajasthan), Tejanarayan from Patna (Bihar) and Naresh Singh from Agra (Uttar Pradesh). Police officials said further investigation is underway to trace the gang's kingpins, identify beneficiaries of the cheating racket, and examine its possible involvement in other competitive examinations....
