BJP will secure hat-trick in assembly polls: Shah
Dehradun, Nov. 7 -- Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday used the stage of a rally at Dehradun's Parade Ground, held as part of State Foundation Day celebrations, to urge voters to help the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieve a hat-trick and secure over 65 seats in the upcoming state assembly elections in 2027.
He also launched barbs at the opposition Congress, saying that the party would "never abandon the path of appeasement" and advocate for the establishment of a "Muslim university" in the hill state. "The BJP wants to make border state Uttarakhand a secure state (surakshit rajya) and establish Devbhoomi as the cultural state of the nation. We need your mandate and your blessings."
"If they (Congress) come to power, they will advocate for a Muslim university. But when we come, we will remove illegal mazars and madrasas to free the sacred land of Devbhoomi," he said.
"In Uttarakhand, they even brought a proposal for a holiday for Friday namaz. They opposed the Ram Mandir, encouraged infiltrators, and formulated policies to alter the demography. We have put an end to all of it," he said."We have scored a hat-trick in many states, and now it is Devbhoomi's turn... This time, we must move forward with the target of crossing 65 seats".
Shah said Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's "political tourism will make no difference here."
"Congress left this state relying solely on money orders and migration, leaving behind a system where neither the youth of the hills nor the water of the hills was used for the welfare of the region."
Shah said Uttarakhand became the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). "Should anyone in this nation be allowed four marriages? Should practice like Triple Talaq exist? No one has the right to disrespect women. Today, 15 states across the country are moving toward implementing UCC, and we will introduce it in all BJP-ruled states," he said.
Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 62 development projects worth Rs.1,475.31 crore at the event. Officials said foundation stones were laid for 44 new projects worth Rs.1,073.11 crore, while 18 projects worth Rs.402.20 crore were inaugurated. Shah and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honoured six children with the Chief Minister's State Bravery Awards and conferred the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman 2026 on 15 personalities for their outstanding contributions to the state. Later in the day, Shah presented the President's Police Colour to the state police at an event at the Police Lines....
