VARANASI, July 28 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a nationwide 'Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan' from Kashi on July 29 to mark the 650th birth anniversary (Prakash Parv) of Sant Guru Shri Ravidas Maharaj. The campaign will be inaugurated at Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi-the birthplace of Saint Ravidas. BJP national president Nitin Navin, chief minister Yogi Adityanath, and Sant Guru Niranjan Das Maharaj will be present on the occasion. A series of programmes will continue until February 20, 2027 (Magh Purnima and Saint Ravidas Jayanti), said national president of the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha Lal Singh Arya while addressing a press conference in Varanasi along with social welfare minister Asim Arun on Monday. Arun stated that special programmes would be organised in Varanasi on July 28 and 29 to mark the launch of the campaign. On July 28, the collection of sacred soil and the 'Mati Pujan' (soil worship ceremony) will take place at the birthplace of Sant Ravidas Ji in Seer Govardhanpur. Subsequently, a grand procession carrying 131 sacred pitchers (kalash) will be taken out from the Shri Guru Ravidas Ji memorial site in Varanasi to the birthplace temple, where a formal worship ritual will be performed. The 'Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samarasata Deep Abhiyan' will also be conducted as part of this initiative.
