LUCKNOW, Sept. 15 -- Kaushal Kishore, BJP leader and former Union minister, has questioned the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA)'s land acquisition process alleging that middlemen are involved in land purchase for its various schemes. He further alleged that middlemen are approaching farmers to take over land where compensation rates differ for similarly situated parcels and that boundary walls are being selectively demolished by the authority. In a live video on social media on Monday, the former Mohanlalganj MP questioned the LDA's authority to independently determine the rates at which it acquires farmers' land. He alleged that brokers were involved in approaching landowners and obtaining their consent through letters. Kishore specifically raised questions over the proposed Naimish Nagar scheme, claiming that farmers had received significantly different compensation amounts for their land. He cited an instance where one farmer allegedly received Rs.1.5 crore while another received Rs.81 lakh and questioned the basis for such differences. He also levelled serious allegations regarding demolition action against farmers. Kishore also criticised the Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Board, alleging that it had committed similar mistakes in Mohanlalganj.
