BJP launches nationwide Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan
VARANASI, July 29 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday launched the 'Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan' at Sant Ravidas' birthplace in Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi, marking the commencement of year-long celebrations for the saint's 650th birth anniversary.
The campaign, which aims to propagate Sant Ravidas' message of social harmony and equality, began with a ceremonial Kalash Yatra. BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, along with BJP national SC Morcha president Lal Singh Arya and other party leaders, paid respects at the idol of Sant Ravidas before collecting sacred soil from the birthplace into 131 ceremonial urns (kalash).
Addressing the significance of the campaign, Tarun Chugh stated that the collected soil will be transported to over 20,000 locations nationwide.
"The core objective is to ensure that Sant Ravidas Ji's vision of social harmony, equality, and human welfare reaches the masses," Chugh said.
On Wednesday, July 29, these 131 urns will be formally handed over to representatives from 27 states in the presence of BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary. These representatives will then carry the soil back to their respective states to launch local campaigns. The initiative is scheduled to run from July 29 through February 20.
UP BJP general secretary (organisation) Dharampal characterised Sant Ravidas as a guiding light for all of humanity, transcending class or community. Echoing this sentiment, finance minister Suresh Khanna noted that the saint commands reverence from millions across the country, regardless of religious or caste boundaries....
