Lucknow, Sept. 24 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given Uttar Pradesh a sizeable organisational team as part of a wider reshuffle of state in-charges and co-in-charges ahead of the 2027 assembly elections in the state. The party has appointed national general secretary Vinod Tawde its UP in-charge and named four co-incharges to assist him. The four co-in-charges are Gujarat leader Jagdish Patel, Rajya Sabha member Medha Kulkarni and Jharkhand leaders Pradeep Verma and Anant Ojha. The expanded team will assist Tawde in coordinating with the state organisation and overseeing election related preparations. The BJP's organisational appointments announced on Wednesday have also given several UP leaders responsibilities in other states. National general secretary Harish Dwivedi, a Brahmin leader from eastern UP, has been appointed in-charge of Bihar and Karnataka. Former Union minister and national general secretary Smriti Irani has been assigned charge of Haryana and Chhattisgarh with BJP MP Bhola Singh as co-in-charge of Haryana. Former minister and Mathura MLA Shrikant Sharma has been appointed in-charge of Himachal Pradesh with Rajya Sabha MP Darshana Singh as co-in-charge. National vice-president Rekha Verma has been appointed co-in-charge of Madhya Pradesh while Dr Swadesh Singh has been given the co-in-charge responsibility for Odisha. Meanwhile, UP BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary on Tuesday congratulated Medha Kulkarni, Pradeep Verma and Anant Ojha on their appointment as the party's co-incharges for Uttar Pradesh.
