Bhaisakund flyover narrows as PWD begins joint repairs
LUCKNOW, Sept. 7 -- Commuters using the Bhaisakund-KD Singh Babu Stadium route will have to squeeze through one side of the flyover for the next 10 to 12 days, as the public works department (PWD) shuts one carriageway to replace damaged expansion joints on the 900-metre structure.
The repair work has restricted traffic movement on an important city route used by thousands of commuters daily. Vehicles are being allowed through the other side while workers replace the affected joints.
"The department identified damaged expansion joints and has begun replacing them with new ones. The work is expected to be completed in around 10 to 12 days," a PWD official said.
The flyover has around 17 to 18 expansion joints along its 900-metre stretch. These joints allow the structure to accommodate movement and expansion.
The traffic restriction could lead to slower movement, particularly during peak hours. The PWD expects to restore traffic on both sides after completing the repair work....
