Meerut, April 19 -- A massive fire broke out on Saturday, at around 11 am, in the warehouse of Ankur Paint Factory located in the Parsakhera Industrial Area under the CB Ganj police station limits. According to initial reports, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit. Thick plumes of smoke soon began billowing out of the warehouse. The presence of a large number of paint-filled drums intensified the situation, causing the flames to spread rapidly and take a fierce form within minutes. The towering smoke was visible from a considerable distance, creating alarm in the surrounding area. Factory employees immediately rushed to control the blaze and alerted the fire brigade. Fire tenders promptly reached the spot and launched an intensive firefighting operation. The fire team from BL Agro Industries Limited also extended crucial support in dousing the flames. After nearly 30 minutes of relentless efforts, the fire was brought under control. However, the cooling and containment operation continued for about an hour to prevent any possibility of reignition. Fire officials stated that the large stock of paint drums in the warehouse contributed to the rapid spread and intensity of the blaze.
