MEERUT, Sept. 28 -- A 30-year-old man had a narrow escape after the concrete roof slab of his house collapsed while he was asleep early Sunday in Sudhanpur village of Bareilly district. Rajesh, son of Nanhe, was sleeping on a cot when the collapse reportedly flung it out of the house and into a nearby pond. He escaped unhurt, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Arvind Kumar confirmed. According to Nanhe, he had gone out around 4 am to feed his buffalo when the roof slab suddenly gave way. Rajesh was asleep inside one of the rooms. As the slab collapsed, his cot and mosquito net were reportedly thrown into the air and landed in an upright position before Rajesh fell into the pond behind the house. No casualties were reported, but the family suffered property damage....
