Barber held after gun misfires during fight with landlord's son
LUCKNOW, July 31 -- A 26-year-old barber working with a popular online beauty saloon was arrested in Lucknow's PGI area on Thursday after he allegedly threatened his landlord's son with a country-made pistol and attempted to shoot him during an argument, police said. The alleged firing attempt failed after the weapon misfired.
According to police, the incident took place in Utrethia under the PGI police station limits following a dispute between the accused and his landlord's family.
"Based on a complaint lodged by the victim, police registered an FIR under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act for criminal intimidation, attempt to murder and illegal possession of a firearm," said ADCP South Vasanth Rallapalli.
"The accused, identified as Abhishek Srivastava (26), originally from Bareilly and currently living in a rented accommodation in Utrethia, was taken into custody soon after the incident," he added.
Police said they recovered a .315-bore country-made pistol and one live cartridge from his possession.
"During interrogation, the accused allegedly told police that he worked as an on-demand barber with a service providing company and had an argument with his landlord's son that escalated into violence. He also admitted to being addicted to intoxicants," a police press note read.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody. Police said further investigation is underway....
