Lucknow, May 17 -- Bank employees under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) staged a protest on Saturday, wearing black clothes and sporting black badges to push for the implementation of a five-day banking system. The demonstration also highlighted the union's opposition to the arbitrary introduction of the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for senior bank officers. The UFBU stated that despite a long struggle and a one-day nationwide strike to press for the five-day work system, the central government has failed to implement it. Senior forum officials including State Convener YK Arora, DK Singh, SK Sangatani, Laxman Singh, Manmohan Das and Sandeep Singh, reported that while the Indian Banks' Association agreed to the five-day system long ago, the central government has yet to give its approval. UFBU leaders VK Mathur, Vibhakar Kushwaha, BD Pandey, Vishakha Verma and Swati Singh also criticised the central government for directing the arbitrary implementation of the PLI scheme for officers of scale IV and above, including top management, calling it a "violation of the conciliation process"....
