Lucknow, June 16 -- As mercury began to push northwards in thermometers across Uttar Pradesh, Banda once again claimed its spot in news as the district remained the hottest place in the country on Monday with a maximum temperature of 43.4deg C, 3.8 degrees above normal, according to IMD data. The situation was no better at Prayagraj where the maximum temperature rose to 42.4deg C. In Hamirpur and Jhansi, mercury rose to 41.6deg C, Varanasi 41.2deg C, Orai 40.8deg C, Varanasi Airport 40.5deg C, and Bahraich 40.4deg C. In Lucknow, day and night temperatures were 39.7 and 28.9deg C, respectively. The forecast for Lucknow is a mainly clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 41 and 29deg C, respectively. The state forecast for Tuesday is rain/thundershowers is very likely at isolated places over West UP. The weather will most likely be dry over East UP....
