Babu Stadium boxers finish top in district championship
LUCKNOW, April 20 -- Boxers from the KD Singh Babu Stadium asserted their dominance by clinching the overall championship trophy, displaying exceptional skill during the 1st VKS Foundation Memorial District Boxing Championship here on Sunday.
On the third and final day of the championship, KD Singh Babu Stadium pugilists secured first place with 64 points, while Modern Academy finished as the runner-up with 42 points.
There was fierce competition for the 'Best Boxer' award and ultimately, Kanti from Josh Academy topped the senior category, while Swayam Pratap Singh from KD Singh Babu Stadium took the honors in the youth category. Additionally, Rudransh Jindal from La Martiniere was named the best boxer in the mini category, Shreyansh Shashwat Shukla from KD Singh Babu Stadium in the sub-junior category, and a boxer from Modern Academy in the junior category.
On the occasion, the 'Most Promising Boxer' award was presented to Kavya from CBA in the mini category; Gaurav Gupta from St. Mary's in the sub-junior category; Medhansh Srivastava from LPS Gomti Nagar in the junior category; Junali Singh Bisht from Lucknow Montessori School in the youth category; and Sujita from KD Singh Babu Stadium in the senior category.
The first-ever Inter-Corporate Tenpin Bowling Tournament 2026' will be organized on June 3, at the Funtura Bowling Arena located within Lulu Mall under the joint auspices of the ASSOCHAM Uttar Pradesh and the Uttar Pradesh Tenpin Bowling Association.
This one-day tournament will feature the participation of 12 leading corporate teams from UP, with each team comprising two members.
DP Singh, president of ASSOCHAM Uttar Pradesh, stated that this initiative reflects our commitment to cultivating a culture of health, teamwork, and leadership within the corporate sector. Sudhanshu Srivastava, chairman of the ASSOCHAM Sports Committee, described this as a strategic endeavor to integrate sports into corporate culture. He noted that sports serve as an effective medium for stress management and long-term performance enhancement, and that immense potential exists in this regard.
As many as eight players Parth patil, Aryan Sejwal, Eklavya Singh, Anuj Kumar, Prateek Sheoran, Om Yadav, Aditya Tinjani, and Uday Kaul on Sunday qualified for the main draw of the AITA men's Rs 1 lakh Tournament, at the Unnad Tennis Academy here.
