Meerut, March 11 -- A 13-year-old boy was critically injured after being struck by a bullet during celebratory firing at an engagement ceremony in Gulaothi area of Bulandshahr on Tuesday evening. The victim, identified as Mohd Kaif, a resident of Gulawathi, had arrived at the function to play drums with his elder brother. During the celebrations, someone allegedly opened fire in the air, and a bullet caught Kaif in the head. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to a higher medical centre in Meerut due to his critical condition. "The minor is currently admitted in the ICU and has undergone a head surgery. An FIR has been registered under BNS 109 (attempt to murder) against Paritosh Kumar and his son Harsh Singh. Teams have been formed and attempts are being made to nab them" said SP City Shankar Prasad. In a similar incident reported from Bulandshahr's city area, an 8-year-old boy had sustained a bullet injury in the head after a 14yo boy allegedly opened fire during a marriage ceremony in the Sarraf Bazar area of Bulandshahr on February 19. According to his father, Himanshu Verma, Reyansh has undergone a major head surgery at a private hospital in Noida on which he has spent nearly Rs 30 lakh. "My son remained on a ventilator for 15 days and is still critical. Though he has been shifted to a private ward, a bone from his skull has been removed and he has to undergo another surgery next week. I'm worried if he will be able to live normally".
