Azamgarh minors warned over social media bravado; youth booked
Varanasi, June 16 -- As part of Operation Vajrapat, a campaign launched to maintain law and order and curb the rising "gang culture" among youths fuelled by social media, Azamgarh police warned two minors for displaying bravado on their Instagram profiles.
During the ongoing campaign, police identified several social media accounts displaying aggressive content. An investigation linked the Instagram ID "A.K.4.T.7 ARMAN" to a 17-year-old resident of Kundigarh, and the ID "Sarkar.-315-69" to a 15-year-old resident of Pahadpur Takiya.
According to circle officer Shubham Todi, the minors were summoned to the police station in the presence of their guardians and a child welfare officer. During the session, they received counselling on the importance of law and order, traffic regulations and the adverse consequences of misusing social media platforms. Given their minor status, they were released with a strict warning to refrain from such activities in the future.
Police have urged parents to remain vigilant regarding their children's online activities and to encourage them to participate in constructive endeavors.
Meanwhile, the campaign has also resulted in legal action against young adults. A case has been registered against 20-year-old Mohammad Irfan, associated with the Instagram ID "kamine sarkar 315." He faces charges under Sections 126 (wrongful restraint) and 135 (assault or criminal force) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police confirmed that further legal proceedings are underway....
