Ayurvedic doctor heldfor rape of patient inpvt hospital
LUCKNOW, May 22 -- A BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) doctor was arrested on the charge of raping a 20-year-old woman patient during treatment at a private hospital in Lucknow's Bakshi Ka Talab area , police said on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Vijay Kumar Giri, 30, a resident of the Reusa area in Sitapur district, was working at the hospital when the incident occurred.
ACP, BKT, Vikas Pandey said the doctor was arrested under Section 63 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police, the woman, suffering from fever and epileptic episodes for several days, was admitted to the hospital since May 19.
Family members alleged the doctor tried to gain the woman's trust before allegedly raping her inside the hospital.
Soon after, her health reportedly worsened, following which family members took her out of the hospital and alerted the police.
She narrated her ordeal to her family on May 21 (Thursday), they said.
Acting on a complaint, a police team from the Bakshi Ka Talab police station, along with ACP Vikas Pandey, reached the hospital and inspected the premises.
The accused doctor was arrested.
Police said the survivor was sent for medical examination and statements of hospital staff were recorded....
