Autopsy report hints at poisoning, viscera sent to FSL
PRAYAGRAJ, June 23 -- A fresh development has emerged in the death of a final-year MBBS student at a private medical college in Prayagraj, who died after her health suddenly deteriorated on the morning of June 20. While initial suspicions pointed towards a medical condition, possibly linked to lack of oxygen, the post-mortem examination has reportedly indicated signs of possible poisoning.
According to sources, doctors preserved the student's viscera samples after detecting findings suggestive of poisoning during the autopsy.
The samples have been sent to a forensic science laboratory (FSL) for detailed analysis. Officials said the exact cause of death will be established only after the forensic report is received.
The deceased, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, was a final-year MBBS student at a private medical college in Prayagraj. Her father is a BAMS practitioner, while her mother serves as a lecturer at a government college.
She died on Saturday morning after her condition suddenly worsened. Following the incident, both the college administration and the police initially suspected that she may have succumbed to an illness.
After receiving information about her death, the student's parents, brother and other family members travelled to Prayagraj. Following the post-mortem examination, her last rites were performed at Daraganj Ghat on Sunday evening.
Family members further stated that she had returned to Prayagraj only a few days earlier after visiting her home. Before leaving, she reportedly underwent a routine health check-up and was found to be in good health.
According to the family, she had no history of any serious illness.
Station house officer (SHO) of Airport police station, Rajesh Upadhyay, said that the investigation now depends on the findings of the forensic laboratory.
"The FSL report is expected to clarify whether a toxic substance was involved and, if so, the circumstances under which it entered her body. After the report is received, suitable legal action will be taken," Upadhyay said....
