ASI inspects 'musafirkhana' near Jama Masjid
MEERUT, Sept. 9 -- An Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) team on Tuesday inspected a 'musafirkhana' (guest house) near the ASI-protected Jama Masjid in Sambhal following a complaint seeking an inquiry into the structure, officials said.
ADM Satyapriya Singh said the team conducted a site inspection and further action would depend on its report. Security was tightened during the visit, with a PAC platoon and police personnel from several police stations deployed in the area. An ASI team member said officials inspected only the musafirkhana. The complaint was filed by Kalki Sena national coordinator Subhash Chandra Tyagi, who alleged that the structure was illegal and sought action against it. Revenue authorities and the ASI are also examining land records and structures in the area, officialss said....
