Ashrafabad reels under 13-hour outage
Lucknow, June 15 -- More than 500 households in Ashrafabad locality of the Chowk area remained without electricity and drinking water for over 13 hours on Sunday after an underground cable fault disrupted power supply.
The outage began around 6 am in the Nadan Mahal sub-division under the Chowk power division. Residents said it took several hours for electricity department officials to identify the fault despite repeated complaints, causing hardship amid the summer heat.
According to residents, power supply snapped early in the morning and consumers received little information about the cause of the disruption. The underground cable fault was traced after nearly four hours, following which repair work was undertaken.
Electricity was restored around 7.30 pm, ending a blackout that also affected water supply. Many residents were forced to purchase drinking water.
