Armed men storm BKU office, loot Rs 2.7 Lakh
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 22 -- A case of armed robbery, assault, and alleged extortion has been registered after miscreants reportedly stormed the state office of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait) under the Airport police station area in Prayagraj, threatened those present with a pistol, and fled with Rs 2.7 lakh.
Police have lodged an FIR against the named accused and initiated an investigation. Meanwhile, the opposing side has circulated a video claiming the dispute is linked to a land-related financial transaction.
According to the complaint filed by Saurabh Upadhyay, a resident of Jagannathipur in Gonda and in-charge of the BKU (Tikait) state office in Prayagraj, he was present at the office on Monday evening along with several members of the organisation.
He alleged that Sanjay Yadav entered the premises carrying a pistol and demanded Rs 5 lakh, threatening to shoot those present if the money was not paid.
When the demand was resisted, the accused allegedly left after warning that he would return shortly. About 10 minutes later, Sanjay Yadav allegedly came back with his brother Satyendra Yadav, son Kunwar Singh, and several associates.
The group reportedly broke open the office shutter, barged inside, and assaulted members of the organisation.
The complainant further alleged that Sanjay Yadav held a pistol to his head and forcefully took away Rs 2.7 lakh that had been collected for an upcoming organisational event. The accused also allegedly abused and threatened those present before fleeing.
Airport police station SHO Vaibhav Singh said an FIR has been registered and the allegations are being investigated.
Police are also examining the counter-claims made by the other party regarding the alleged land dispute....
