India, Sept. 4 -- LUCKNOW The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) is set for an overhaul after an Apex committee meeting on Thursday reportedly recommended major changes across selection panels and support staff, signaling a push for fresh faces and enhanced accountability. "There should be change in selection panels of both senior and junior men as well as women committees, and we advocated for bringing in new faces instead of tried and tested ones," a UPCA official said on condition of anonymity, stressing the need to move beyond long-standing appointments. "And for the betterment of cricket, whatever can be improved, it should be done. For the last many years, we have had the same set of people, and the results are not positive at all, and a change is a must," said a senior committee member, adding, "We need result-oriented people on both the selection panel and in the support staff." Repeatedly emphasising experience combined with new perspectives, the official added: "First of all, we will increase the experience. And along with the experience, they should also get clean air and good people." That mix, he said, would help reinvigorate UP cricket, which has struggled for consistent results in recent seasons. "After winning the Ranji Trophy for the first time in 2005-06, we are unable to win the coveted trophy again. Why? There has to be some answer from the people responsible for this," he further said. When asked whether the committee intended to replace long-serving support staff and selectors, the official clarified that the intent was not to target individuals but to refresh the system. "Sir, I am not talking about changing any person. What I want to say directly is that those people who have been there for 4-5 years - it's been a long time..." He also said the policy would apply across all age groups and levels. Questions about remuneration and perceived inconsistencies in payments to staff were addressed briefly. "All these things are under process. Everything is being done by the system." The official signalled that result-oriented appointments would be prioritised. Result-oriented people should be kept. And the supporting staff should also have good experience. We paid lakhs of rupees to the support staff last season and even then we are not getting the desired results," he said. Meanwhile, UPCA's secretary, Prem Manohar Gupta also confirmed that there were positive discussions at the Apex committee meeting today. "We discussed every aspect and the meeting ended on a positive note," he said....
