Anomalies in Raj civic polls, alleges Maya
LUCKNOW, Sept. 16 -- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Tuesday alleged that several of the party's candidates were forcibly defeated during recounting by margins of just a few votes due to irregularities in the government machinery during the Rajasthan local body elections.
The BSP won 19 councillor seats in the elections, the results of which were declared on Monday. Mayawati said the party could have performed even better and congratulated BSP office-bearers and workers for their performance.
She said the party had also secured better-than-before results in local body elections held earlier in Punjab and some other states.
Mayawati expressed hope that the party would improve its performance further in the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan and other states, as well as the next Lok Sabha elections....
