Anandiben Patelmarks record sevenyears in office as guv
Lucknow, July 30 -- Governor Anandiben Patel on Wednesday set a new record of sorts after completing seven years in office. She took over as UP's governor on July 29, 2019. With this, Patel becomes the first governor in the pre- and post-independence period to have the longest tenure as governor of Uttar Pradesh.
She has already broken the record of Sir Maurice Garner Hallett who was the only governor to complete six years in office. Hallet worked as the governor during British rule from December 6, 1939 to December 6, 1945 when Uttar Pradesh was called the United Provinces.
No special programme was organised to mark the governor's seven years in office. She attended the 8th convocation of Jannayak Chandrashekhar University, Ballia, where degrees were awarded to 19,277 students. She also presided over the 44th convocation of Sampoorna Sanskrit University, Varanasi where degrees were awarded to 11959 students....
