AMU students pledge support for greener U.P.
AGRA, July 5 -- More than 50 students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) took an environmental pledge during an awareness programme organised under the 'Harit Sarthi Abhiyan', a flagship initiative of the Uttar Pradesh forest and wildlife department under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign in collaboration with 'Climate Par Charcha', Lucknow.
Organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at the AMU Conference Hall, the programme encouraged students to participate in environmental conservation and afforestation. Dr Abdul Jabbar, officiating NSS coordinator, stressed the need for collective action through sustained tree plantation and conservation. Social worker Mansoor Ahmad Khan spoke about the importance of increasing green cover and urged participants to collect and disperse seeds during the fruiting season to support natural afforestation.
Muhammad Kaif Siddiqui, coordinator of the Harit Sarthi Abhiyan, outlined the campaign's objectives and informed participants about the Harit Sarthi Quiz and the online environmental pledge drive. The programme, convened by Dr Fauzia Fareedi, Programme Officer, NSS AMU Unit, was organised in collaboration with 'Climate Par Charcha', Lucknow, and the Alliance for Food Technology Innovation & Research Trust (AFTIR)....
