Alleged bid to sell teenage girls foiled
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 22 -- An alleged attempt to sell two teenage girls in Mumbai after luring them with employment promises has come to light in the Tharwai police station area of Prayagraj. The family of one of the victims has accused local police of delaying action despite repeated complaints.

Their cries attracted the attention of bystanders, who gathered at the station. Sensing trouble, the two accused fled the spot, the complaint alleges.
The father, who works and resides in Bhiwandi, said his daughter contacted him by phone and informed him about the incident. He immediately reached Kalyan station, took both girls to his residence, and later brought them back to the village on July 27.
He further alleged that since returning, he had repeatedly approached Tharwai police station and senior officials seeking registration of a case against the accused. However, he claimed no action had been taken so far. The complainant also alleged that relatives of the accused have threatened him with dire consequences if he pursues the matter.
