Aliganj fire: Rights panel seeks action taken report from Lko CP
Lucknow, Sept. 9 -- The Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission has taken cognisance of a complaint filed in connection with the fire that broke out in a four-storey building in Aliganj and directed the Lucknow police commissioner to take necessary action. The complaint was filed by Mathura-based social activist Krishna Rajput.
In its order dated August 27, the commission has forwarded the matter to the police commissioner, Lucknow, for appropriate action and directed that the commission and the complainant/victim be informed about the action taken within six weeks.
Rajput, in his complaint, had demanded a high-level and time-bound inquiry into the Aliganj fire incident and fixing accountability of responsible officers for lapses, if any, that led to the tragedy.
With the commission's directive, focus is now on action to be taken by Lucknow police....
