KANPUR, Feb. 26 -- Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took the state government to task on Wednesday over the Marodi incident in Kanpur Dehat in which a Brahmin family committed suicide. Yadav said that assurances had been given to the affected family but they were still struggling for justice. Speaking to reporters during his visit to Kanpur, he also raised the issue of an alleged assault on an Army personnel in Kanpur, questioning the government's claims of nationalism. Calling for Kanpur's revival, Yadav said the focus should be on restarting mills and rebuilding the city as an industrial hub to generate employment. Taking a dig at CM Yogi Adityanath, he referred to earlier remarks comparing Varanasi to Kyoto and Kanpur to Singapore. "Kanpur needs development, not slogans," he said. He accused the BJP government of insulting the Shankaracharya and said the country would not accept such treatment. He also took a swipe at both deputy chief ministers, saying they were "not fit for their posts". The BJP did not immediately respond to the allegations....
