Lucknow, Aug. 4 -- Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday sharply attacked the BJP following its defeat in the Bankipur assembly bypoll in Bihar. Describing the verdict as the combined result of youth unity and their parents' anger, Yadav listed a series of alleged missteps by the BJP that he claimed had shaken public faith. These, he said, included vote theft, paper leaks, theft of jobs and reservations, rampant corruption, atrocities on the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) community, rising inflation, adulteration, and insults to mothers and daughters. "Now even BJP workers will demand the resignation of their own people. Those who could not win their own assembly seats - how will they steer the party's boat across? In fact, this defeat belongs to those who imposed such leaders on the organisation," he said. Taking a swipe at the party's organisational structure, Yadav remarked that the person happiest today in Uttar Pradesh is the one from the PDA community who was deliberately given a state-level post instead of a national one. He described the outcome as a "double engine, double loss," noting that if the national president could not ensure the party's win in an assembly seat, the state president would find it even harder.
