Kanpur, Oct. 11 -- Questioning the BJP's support for chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has accused the ruling party of trying to remove SP supporters' names from electoral rolls through fake Form 7 applications. "If the Opposition is protesting against the Election Commission, why is the BJP defending it?" Akhilesh asked on Saturday, alleging the BJP was behind a conspiracy. Speaking to reporters in Saifai after paying tribute to his father, former chief minister and defence minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, on his fourth death anniversary, Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the party's PDA Praharis had detected several cases of fraudulent Form 7 applications intended to delete the names of SP supporters. He cited alleged cases involving forged signatures and more than 100 Form 7 applications in Sultanpur, Lucknow and Bidhuna. He said the Election Commission had been informed but no concrete action had followed. Yadav said several political parties, not just the SP, had raised questions about the chief election commissioner. Calling the Election Commission a constitutional body responsible for impartial decisions and maintaining public confidence in a democracy, he accused the BJP of repeatedly defending the CEC whenever Opposition parties protested against him. The SP chief also alleged that the BJP had misused the administrative machinery to influence the results of assembly by-elections in Uttar Pradesh. He said Opposition leaders had presented evidence of electoral irregularities to the President during a meeting. Referring to West Bengal, Akhilesh claimed that Mamata Banerjee had not lost the assembly election there but had been defeated through manipulation. He alleged that the election had been "looted" despite the deployment of more than three lakh security personnel. Responding to BJP president Nitin Nabin's description of the INDIA bloc as anarchic, Akhilesh hit back at the ruling party. He described the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly election as the biggest test facing the state, warning that people could lose their voting rights if the BJP returned to power. He appealed to farmers, young people, traders and PDA communities to unite to protect the Constitution and democracy. He also criticised the state government over farmers' financial difficulties, alleging that industrialists were receiving loan waivers while farmers continued to struggle. Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had paid floral tributes at Mulayam Singh Yadav's memorial in Saifai with his uncle and Jaswant Nagar MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav, Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav and other family members. Those present included Azamgarh MP Dharmendra Yadav, Badaun MP Aditya Yadav, Firozabad MP Akshay Yadav, former MP and sitting Karhal MLA Tej Pratap Yadav and district panchayat chairman Abhishek Yadav. SP national principal general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav could not attend the programme because of commitments in Delhi. The tribute programme was held at the memorial complex near Saifai tehsil, where a socialist museum is being built in Mulayam Singh Yadav's memory....
