NEW DELHI, July 23 -- Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh on Wednesday called for seamless jointness among the army, navy and air force to ensure the nation succeeds as one unified force in future conflicts, putting the spotlight on the ongoing efforts to boost tri-service integration. Jointness is an essential prerequisite for creating theatre commands. His comments came at the commissioning of the second locally built Mahe-class anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft (ASW-SWC) Malvan in Karwar. Singh also emphasised the importance of safeguarding sea lines of communication to ensure unimpeded maritime trade amid global uncertainties. "With over 80% indigenous content, the ship reinforces the government's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and India's expanding ecosystem of naval design, system integration, and growing self-reliance in defence shipbuilding," the navy said. The ship carries deep historical and cultural significance as it derives its name from the coastal town of Malvan in Maharashtra, a region linked to the maritime heritage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, it added.
