LUCKNOW, Sept. 22 -- A woman from Agra climbed a tower near the Lucknow zoo on Monday morning, allegedly seeking to draw the attention of authorities to a land dispute concerning her property. The incident took place around 8am in the Hazratganj police station area, in front of Gate No. 3 of the zoo on Park Road, according to police. The incident briefly drew a crowd, after which police personnel cleared the area to facilitate the rescue operation. Police said they received information about the woman climbing the tower and immediately reached the spot. With the help of a fire service vehicle, personnel persuaded her to climb down safely. According to preliminary information, the woman, identified as Tulsa, had travelled to Lucknow from Agra, alleging that a neighbour had encroached upon her plot. She claimed that she had earlier approached local police and administrative officials with her grievance, but no action had been taken to resolve the matter. Tulsa alleged that a man named Man Singh had occupied around one-and-a-half bigha of her land and threatened to kill her whenever she sought action.
